Furiosa – Movie Review

When George Miller’s Mad Max Fury Road came out in 2015 with Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy it reintroduced the post-apocalyptic Wasteland to a new generation of viewers. Several decades ago, made on a modest budget the original Mad Max movie made Mel Gibson a star. We digress. In 2015, a 70 plus director made a roller-coaster action-thriller that would put young filmmakers to shame. Now nine years later George Miller comes up with an origin story for Imperator Furiosa and I highly recommend that you watch it on the big screen. Watching on TV or God forbid on your mobile phone is not going to help. The vast desert, Gas Town, Immortal Joe’s Citadel, the thundering chase sequences, the explosions and shootouts, need to be witnessed on the big screen.

Anya Taylor Joy fills in the boots of Charlize Theron with great skill for the action sequences. Chris Hemsworth as the villain Dementus is stuck in limbo attempting a comic and a serious villain but pulls himself up to ooze hatred when he comes up on screen. The other actors are adequate. It is set piece after another of battling for superiority. There are lines about war, about hatred, about humans terrorizing each other.

The end cuts back to sequences from the 2015 movie. Will we see another addition in this franchise? Needs to be seen.

Worth your time if you like mindless action cinema.

May the stars be with you!!!
