The stories are abridged to fit the format, the visual narrative with the choice of colours and the style of painting is really nice. Hearty congratulations to the entire Pratilipi Comics Team, which worked on bringing these four books to life.

The Kabuliwallah and The Postman offer deep philosophical insights into life and relationships.

Toba Tek Singh on partition and the vagaries of the mind. The Dog of Tithwal on the insanity that is war and how a voiceless animal is caught in the cross-fire.

The Salt Inspector on doing what is right and how being genuine and honest brings its own rewards. Eidgah shows the love of a young child for his grandmother and will move you to tears.

The two Jim Corbett tales are standard tiger-hunt tales and the landscape of the forest, the mountains, and the magnificent beasts are beautifully rendered.

These books are a great way to introduce your children to the works of these master authors. Highly recommended.

At Rs 299 apiece and with discounts from different shops and online retailers don’t miss out on these classics.
